Dental implants

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that a periodontist places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.

Dental implants are so natural-looking and feeling, you may forget you ever lost a tooth. You know that your confidence about your teeth affects how you feel about yourself, both personally and professionally. Perhaps you hide your smile because of spaces from missing teeth. Maybe your dentures don't feel secure. Perhaps you have difficulty chewing. If you are missing one or more teeth and would like to smile, speak and eat again with comfort and confidence, there is good news! Dental implants are teeth that can look and feel just like your own! Under proper conditions, such as placement by a periodontist and diligent patient maintenance, implants can last a lifetime.

The minimally invasive method of implantation (MIMI) differs considerably from the classical implantology method (CIM) in organizational time lapses and the prosthetic concept.

As a rule, with MIMI at first no buildup of bone is needed in order to perform an implantation minimally invasively. Horizontal bone availability (width) of 3 mm and a vertical (height) of 6-8 mm suffices. At the first session, at which no flapping open of the mucosa is necessary, the drill hole is done directly through the gums (transgingivally) and has a diameter of no more than 70 percent of volume of the later implant threading. Immediately following that, i.e., in the first session, a one-piece implant - so including the implant head is inserted (bloodlessly) into the bone. Consequently, when using MIMI, implantation is done after just a few minutes (in only one session!) and the tooth replacement can often be prepared and implemented 2 to 12 days after implantation.

In this regard, MIMI differs from the classical implant procedure in a few important aspects:

• Only one OP appointment - no incisions, no flapping open, no sutured wounds.

• Final treatment usually within a few days to two weeks (exception: single-rooted individual front tooth implants).

• Cost reduction for patients of up to 50%
